The World Congress of Mental Health 2022 in London highlighted international cooperation and reinforced the commitment to innovative solutions to address today’s global mental health challenges.
The XXIII World Congress of Mental Health, held in London from June 28 to July 1, 2022, was a milestone in global reflection and action on mental health. Under the theme “Mental health: a global priority”, the meeting took place in a hybrid format, bringing together thousands of professionals, researchers, policymakers, and civil society representatives both in person at Central Hall Westminster and virtually.
Over four days, participants discussed major current challenges in mental health, shared experiences, and presented innovative research. A total of 27 European CME Credits were awarded, reinforcing the scientific and educational importance of the event. Highlights included plenary lectures, the presentation of hundreds of abstracts, and discussions on the role of caregivers in mental health services.
The congress also featured networking moments, such as the Gala Dinner at the Royal Society of Medicine, which created a convivial atmosphere for experts and participants from different countries.
The London edition stood out for its strong international participation and the involvement of renowned leaders such as Professor Sir David Goldberg, Dr. Nasser Loza, and Professor N. Sartorius, who welcomed participants while stressing the urgency of placing mental health at the heart of political and social agendas.
This positive outcome reinforces the relevance of the global community around the World Federation for Mental Health and lays the foundation for the 2025 congress, which promises to continue this mission of awareness, research, and intervention.
